Yabitu Koba, Ethiopia
Yabitu Koba, Ethiopia
The farmers of Koba belong to the Oromo people and speak Oromiffa. They maintain certain ancestral customs and have a quiet lifestyle built almost entirely around coffee farming. There is no direct translation from Oromiffa for the word Yabitu, giving this place and this specific offering a sense of mystique that is only capitalized by its astonishing flavor profile. Grown at 2,300 masl, this washed lot made up of Ethiopian landrace varieties is full and vibrant, incredibly juicy and packed with lots of ripe nectarine, sweet lime, and an aromatic quality similar to oolong tea.
Origin: Guji, Ethiopia
Variety: Ethiopian Landraces
A landrace is a domesticated, locally adapted, traditional variety of a species of animal or plant that has developed over time, through adaptation to its natural and cultural environment of agriculture and pastoralism, and due to isolation from other populations of the species.
In coffee, most landrace varieties originate from the forests of Ethiopia, where C. arabica evolved, through a process of human-led domestication. They are generally associated with very high cup quality and lower yields. (WCR)
Process: Washed
Our flavor notes: Nectarine, oolong, sweet lime
